Stephan L. Tubene
University of Maryland, Eastern Shore

Stephan Tubene is currently the Coordinator of The Small Farm Institute at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Tubene also serves as the State Coordinator for Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES)-USDA Small Farm Programs.

Tubene received his B.S. degree in Agricultural Engineering from Yangambi University of Agricultural Science in the Democratic Republic of Congo in1987, and a Ph.D. degree in Agricultural Economics from Kansas State University in 1997. Tubene joined the University of Maryland in 1998. His research interest includes Small Farm Programs, International Agricultural Development, Agricultural Marketing, and Farm Management. He is fluent in English, French, and several African languages.

Tubene has published several articles and fact sheets to support his programs at the Small Farm Institute. He is a CSREES Fellow, member of the American Agricultural Economics Association, member of the International Association of Agricultural Economists, and New Immigrant Farmers Initiative (NIFI)’s board member.
