Texas Cooperative Extension Offers Chances for Continuing Education Units in December

Posted 12.01.05 - ABILENE – Area residents have opportunities to earn Texas Department of Agriculture and Structural Pest Control Board continuing education units in December through training sessions conducted by Texas Cooperative Extension specialists.

The first seminar begins at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 7 in the Abilene Civic Center. Six units will be offered by the pest control board, and five will be offered by the agriculture department.

The second course will begin at 8 a.m. Dec. 14 at Extension's office,1982 Lytle Way, Abilene. Five continuing education credits will be offered.

The Dec. 7 event will feature talks on integrated pest management in urban landscapes, managing arthropods, mosquitoes, and termites, general weed control, and current laws and regulations.

The Dec.14 course will feature information on new weed and brush herbicides, integrated pest management concepts, winter weed identification and control, Texas herbicide laws, and do-it-yourself brush control equipment.

Pre-registration for the Dec. 7 seminar is $20 until Dec. 2, or $30 after that. Pre-registration for the Dec. 14 seminar is $15 if received by Dec. 9, or $25 thereafter. Fees include snacks and lunch.
