New Florida Soybean Rust Find

Posted 07.07.05 - Today's find is on kudzu in Gadsden County, FL.  This county is just west of Leon County and just south of Seminole County, GA.  The find was confirmed with microscopy and PCR. For a better idea of the geography, please check the USDA Map at http://www.sbrusa.net/.

In the last week, we have had two other important developments:  Leon county had positive kudzu (downtown Tallahassee) on June 28th and Marion County had positive soybeans on July 1st. The soybeans are in a sentinel plot, about 3 miles west of an previously-reported kudzu site. This is the first report of soybean rust on soybeans in FL in 2005.

More information about all of these finds can be found at http://www.sepdn.org/Florida_Soybean_Rust.htm
