Request: Please consider the following notice from Harold Coble, USDA OPMP, regarding EPA's comment period for napropamide. Pass this information along to interested persons in your respective states/territories and send me any comments you receive. Thanks. Steve Toth ------------------------------------------------- The 60-day comment period for the herbicide napropamide (Devrinol)began on March 16. It is used on lots of minor acreage crops, so you may want to take a look on the EPA website. The only risk of concern is chronic for small mammals and non-target plants. The EPA website for napropamide is: http://www.epa.gov/oppsrrd1/reregistration/napropamide/index.htm Harold D. Response: I looked at the docket last week and noted the deficiencies. I wonder if UP knew there were so many outstanding data issues when they bought this ai. EPA wants about a million dollars worth of studies. However, the issues seem to stem from the spray chemigation application, since they are worried about residues on plants. If they give up this appl, many of the concerns and data requirements should go away. In FL we use it pre (no spray chemigation). I will post something to this extent in the docket.
