Request From: Steve Toth
Date Requested: Mar 29, 2005
Request: Please note the following request for information on the use of bulk containers in your state/territory. Please circulate to experts in your state/territory and submit your responses to the Information Request System. No deadline is given, so please try to submit responses within two weeks (by April 12). ----------------------------------------- I am trying to answer a question regarding the use of bulk containers. How common is bulk storage in farms in your area? Bulk containers are defined as any tanks larger than 500 gallons that are stationary for more than 14 days. Also, does your State define "bulk containers" any differently (i.e., smaller than 500 gallons)? Are there any State regulations regarding bulk storage? Thank you in advance for all your help. Response: In Oklahoma bulk storage of pesticides on farms really does not occur. Our farmers just don't store pesticides in bulk and usually rely on commerical application. I am not aware of any special regulations concerning bulk storage of pesticdes on farm.

Response: Florida has rules for permanently sited storage tanks, but none for mobile types. The biggest bulk containers we use are 150 to 200 gallon.

Response: I assume you mean bulk storage of pesticides. Horticultural oils might be stored in containers that large, but the practice is not common in Georgia.
